SOCIAL WORK CLUB The aim of the Social Club is to contribute toward the Social needs of our society, to involve students in social functions such as fund raising for various charities and to visit various homes for people with special needs. Joining the Club will give you the opportunity to meet and discuss everyday problems with your fellow students as well as to arrange school functions. Every day over 30,000 children die from preventable causes. Across the world 145 million children do not have the opportunity to go to school and 246 million have to work to survive. Children are being abused, exploited and forced to live in appalling conditions. The charity organization EVERY CHILD, that the every child (sponsor a child) club has been working with is fighting to change this. The aim of the club is to raise awareness, help needy children and to involve sponsor groups to sponsor children from abroad that are in desperate need of financial help. The club's main objective is to help children regardless of their race, age, sex and religion.
MEDIMUN CLUB (Mediterranean Model United Nations) Classes 6 and 7 This club allows students to have open discussions and to brainstorm on financial, educational, social or other topics that are on the agenda of the UN. The club takes a stand on certain controversial issues that are considered of utmost importance in the global arena. The ultimate objective of the club is to encourage an interest in current affairs and prepare students for selection as delegates to represent the school and Cyprus at the M.U.N. Conference held in Nicosia every year. The M.U.N. is a simulation of the United Nations for students.
GREEN CLUB In the Green Club students learn about the immediate country-side, take walks or hikes, visit damns, animal parks, beaches and breath fresh air. Be part of our ongoing recycling efforts, help raise awareness on the importance of saving water and energy. We are always looking for new ideas on how to get everyone to care about our world. So if you love nature, enjoy being outdoors and are keen on raising awareness then... this is the club for you.
BLOOD DONATION In memory of Gabriel and Claire Gregoriou the school organizes an annual blood donation in November in association with the Red Cross. Through the Blood Donation Club students understand the need of donating blood to the Blood Bank and thus contribute generously to this altruistic donation. Students, teachers and parents are always welcome and eager to donate blood.
SPORTS CLUB The Sports Club has always been an important part of our school. The activities and events take place on our school premises and at various sports areas around Limassol. The Club offers Volleyball and Basketball and also organises Mini-Football charity tournaments and other events. Our belief is that a healthy mind needs a healthy body and hence sports are essential in our everyday lives. If sports are a part of your daily life then join us!
The Grammar School Football team has been created this year and boys aged 14 to 17 will have the opportunity to take part. At the moment, the team is focusing on training so that a squad of 25 players can be chosen to take part in twice weekly training sessions at the SEK Agios Athanasios. Teacher in charge: Sergio Savva
MUSIC & DRAMA CLUB The Music and Drama Club of our school has become a well established "inspirational home" to many students for several years now as it has offered them opportunities to act, sing or dance. Students can even contribute to the many behind-the-scenes activities such as stage management, make-up and other activities which are vital to any production.At the Grammar School we believe that making music and developing talent should be a social experience, with the participant learning to work in a group, and having the satisfaction of being part of something much larger. There are groups for singers and instrumentalists for all ages and abilities, playing classical and modern music. The Music and Drama Club is responsible for producing the school's annual show as well as contribute in the music and dancing part of school assemblies. The club also organises charity concerts either within the school premises or other sites.
ΘΕΑΤΡΙΚΟΣ ΟΜΙΛΟΣ Στόχος του Ομίλου Ελληνικού Θεάτρου είναι η δημουργία μιας θεατρικής ομάδας, η οποία θα μελετήσει, θα δουλέψει και θα ανεβάσει μια ολοκληρωμένη θεατρική παράσταση. Στον όμιλο μπορούν να συμμετέχουν μαθητές από την 4ης μέχρι την 7η τάξη του σχολείου μας. Η παράσταση ανεβαίνει στα πλαίσια των Παγκύπριων Αγώνων Θεάτρου που συνδιοργανώνονται από τον Θεατρικό Οργανισμό Κύπρου και το Υπουργείο Παιδείας και Πολιτισμού. Πιστεύουμε ότι το σχολικό θέατρο είναι αναμφίβολα μια εξαιρετικά δημιουργική διαδικασία, μέσα από την οποία τα παιδιά αποκτούν μια πολύπλευρη εμπειρία. Μέσα από την επαφή τους με την τέχνη του θεάτρου, δένονται σαν ομάδα, κατανοούν την ανάγκη της συλλογικότητας και της συνεργασίας ενώ ταυτόχρονα διασκεδάζουν και μαθαίνουν. Θα θέλαμε να ενθαρρύνουμε οποιονδήποτε από τους μαθητές μας νιώθει ότι έχει κάτι να δώσει από τον εαυτό του στο θέατρο να μην διστάσει να συμμετέχει στον όμιλο. Είμαστε σίγουροι πως το αποτέλεσμα θα σας ανταμείψει!
