Grades 1, 2, 3: In grades one to three the students are taught French as a foreign language. An effort is made for the students to understand the basic rules of grammar and syntax and to extend their vocabulary in the French language.

Grades 4 & 5 (elective): The students are prepared for IGCSE examination. The examination consists of a listening comprehension as well as reading comprehension, composition and speaking.

Grade 6 (elective): The students are prepared for the A’Level GCE Exam. The examination consists of advanced speaking, listening comprehension, reading and writing comprehension and composition. The students study aspects of the contemporary society, cultural background and heritage of one or more of the French-language countries or communities.

Grades 1,2,3:

In grades one to three students are taught German as a foreign language. An effort is made for the students to understand the basic rules of grammar and syntax and to extend their vocabulary in the German language.

Students also have the opportunity to learn about the German culture and customs by learning about the holidays and festivals of the country. From the listening exercises, students have the opportunity to notice pronunciation patterns and listen to real role-playing conversations. They also practise their knowledge by speaking throughout games, dialogues and flash cards.

Students in grades 1,2,3 are assessed by quizzes, tests, classwork homework and preparation for the lesson

 

Grades 4&5 (elective)

The students in grades 4&5 are prepared for the IGCSE (Pearson Edexcel) examination which is given at the end of year 5.

The examination consist of three parts:

  1. Paper 1: Listening : Students are required to convey their understanding of spoken German through a series of listening tasks.
  2. Paper 2: Reading and Writing: Students are required to convey their understanding of written German through a series of reading tasks.
  3. Paper 3: Speaking: Students are required to convey their understanding of spoken German through three speaking tasks: Task A. a picture based discussion. The intention of this task is to enable students to speak about a situation or scenario with which they have some familiarity. Students will have to select a picture before the exam. Task Band C . The intention of task b and c is to test students on two topics that have not been specifically prepared so as to test spontaneity of response.
